A Message from Governor Yamada

Working Together With Prefectural Residents to Help Disaster Areas Recover

I would like to express my deep sadness at the massive loss of life caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and extend my sympathy for the victims of the disaster including those who have been forced to evacuate their homes.

I was profoundly grateful to see the outpouring of support by Kyoto Prefecture residents, who have collected donations and relief supplies and assisted with relief as volunteers.

Kyoto Prefecture is also working to provide assistance to the affected areas, particularly Fukushima Prefecture, and we will continue to work together with related organizations to provide our utmost efforts in recovery assistance.

At the same time, we are also striving to ensure the safety of Kyoto residents by the safety of food items and closely monitoring the local environment and reviewing local disaster preparedness plans. In addition, we are establishing consultation desks for prefectural businesses in order to ensure the recovery of our industrial and tourist ventures.

Long-term, wide-scale assistance will be needed for the affected areas to recover. All of Japan must work together to meet this challenging time with resilience and hard work.

We aim to continue working closely with prefectural residents in order to provide as much assistance as possible to the affected areas and people. I ask for your continued cooperation and support.
