Traditional events (Tamba)

This festival is said to have begun as a festival of farmers praying for an abundant grain harvest, in celebration of the fact that lanterns were bestowed upon Hietano Shrine from Seiryo-den (Palace Hall) of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. There is a kabuki-style Joruri Ballad Doll Drama performed in the shrine office, for which dolls 30 centimeters in height are used.
