Uji Tea Festival

This festival is held in the vicinity of Ujibashi Bridge each year in early October for the purposes of enshrining the souls of three great tea masters (Eisai Senji, Myoe Shoin, Senno Rikyu) and the souls of other great tea-related pioneers, as well as for the preservation of tea-related artifacts and the promotion of the tea industry in Uji. The event begins with the Meisui Kumiage portion of the tea ceremony, held at the Ujibashi Sannoma tea arbor. It is followed by the Chatsubo Kuchi-kiri portion of the ceremony at Kosho - ji Temple.
