Amanohashidate

The sandbar formed in Miyazu Bay is said to be the fallen ladder used by Izanagino Mikoto (mythical god from Japanese old myth) to climb to heaven. It is one part of Wakasa Bay National Park, and a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. This beautiful scenery, along with Matsushima (Miyagi Prefecture) and Miyajima (Hiroshima Prefecture) can be counted among the three most famous views in Japan. Its total length is 3.4km. Its width is between 20-70m and there are approximately 5000 Japanese black pines growing there. It's very popular with tourists in the summer.
