Houmangura Warehouse (Tanzan Shuzo)
Established in 1916, this old sake brewery, near the ruins of Mitsuhide Akechi's Kameyama Castle, is located in Yoko-cho - where the Kyoto-style latticed houses and "insect cage" windows are reminiscent of the castle town of old. This brewery is known for some of the best sake in the local area, including "Nagisa Daiginjo" and "Kyo Musume," made by a female brewer. Here you can watch a video of how sake is produced, observe the sake warehouses, and taste some freshly brewed sake.
