Urushi Art Lacquerware, manufacturer and wholesaler of Kyoto-style lacquer ware, is located south of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The shop operates a workshop here where visitors can try their hand in basic gold or silver lacquer of whatever design they like, using nontoxic polychrome lacquer (cashew lacquer) and gold dust. The shop also retails lacquer ware.
