Forest of Sizuka

It is a birthplace of the Shizukagozen, lorette of Yoshitsune Minamoto, the military commander who played an active part in the end of Heian period. Shizukagozen was born as a daughter of the reverends in Aminocho iso and Yoshitsune fell in love with her when she danced to the Japanese court music. After Yoshitsune passed away, Shizukagozen sorrowed and returned to the home town, then passed away at the age of 20s. Off the Iso district, the promenade from the Shizuka shrine dedicated to Shizukagozen is the forest of the Sizuka and the scenery of the shoreline is a superb view from the installed observatory. Including the drama “Yoshitsune” which collected popularity in Japan, this place is used as a location for many dramas.
