Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Institute
This laboratory conducts research and development focused on improving tea quality, nurturing types of tea, protecting the environment, conserving energy, and discovering new uses for tea for the purposes of reviving the production of tea (a special product of Kyoto Prefecture), and stabilizing the businesses of tea companies. Visitors here can try their hand at picking tea, which only happens once a year, and even processing the leaves on a hot plate.
