Kitayama Cedar Museum
Kitayama cedar is known for its smooth texture and the uniformity of width derived from its unique cultivation method. Visitors to the Kitayama Cedar Museum, located in the outskirts of Kyoto, can view photo panels depicting the manufacturing process of Kitayama cedar and displays of actual products and the implements used for their manufacture. In the grounds of the museum is a monument to Yasunari Kawabata's novel The Old Capital, in which Kitayama cedar is depicted.
