The Museum of Kyoto

This comprehensive cultural facility presents the history and culture of Kyoto in an easy-to-understand format. In the main hall are the history and culture of Kyoto, the arts and crafts of modern Kyoto, the movie hall and the film gallery as permanent exhibitions.
The annex, which once served as the Kyoto Branch of the farmer Bank of Japan, represent one of typical western-style buildings in the Meiji Period (1868-1912).
At the tearoom located in the annex, which was used as a large safe back then, people can enjoy refreshments amid the nostalgic atmosphere.
The annex is closed for renovation now. It will be open in the middle of May 2005.
