Daicho - ji Temple
In 1606 Kyogoku Takatomo, lord of the Miyazu domain, built a Bodai - ji (family)
temple as his home. When Kyogoku Takahiro became lord of Miyazu, the building
was moved to the present location according to the laws of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Tokugawa
Hidetada and Tokugawa Iemitsu. The solemn mausoleum of the Honjo family which
is painted with black lacquer located inside the main hall is an Important Cultural
Property. Keisho - in Temple(concubine of the third shogun, Iemitsu, and the mother
of the fifth shogun Tsunayoshi) was from the Honjo family. Since she married
into the shogun's family. The Honjo family's mausoleum is a smaller version of
the Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
