Gansen - ji Temple

It is said that this temple was founded by a priest in response to an Imperial prayer by Emperor Shomu. The spectacle of a three-tiered pagoda, rising amidst lush greenery, and the main hall, produce the feeling of a mountain temple. Flowers of all four seasons bloom in the precincts. The hydrangeas in June are beautiful. This area has many Buddhist images carved in stone on rock walls. Looking at the three laughing Amida images carved on one rock wall (from the Kamakura Period) is said to cheer people's spirits.
