Hoshaku-ji Temple

This temple of the Shingon Sect was established by Gyoki Bodai. With a 1,200-year history, Hoshaku - ji Temple is also known as Takaradera Temple(Temple of the Jewel) because it houses the uchide-no-kozuchi (lucky hammer), bestowed upon Emperor Shomu by Ryujin (Dragon God). Located in the mountains of Tennozan, which was an important strategic location for military purposes, this temple was visited by many warlords during the Age of Civil Wars. It houses many Important Cultural Properties, including the Kanzeon-bosatsu, which is the main image, and the image of Enma. Another Important Cultural Property, the 3-tiered pagoda, is said to have been built overnight as a reward for Hashiba Hideyoshi's victory in war.
