Kosho - ji Temple
This temple was built by Sogen, founder of the Soto Sect. It is a training center for the Eiheiji School. The temple was originally built at Fukakusa in Kyoto, but was destroyed as a result of repeated wars. In 1648, it was revived at Uji by Nagai Naomasa, Lord of Yodo Castle. Kotozaka Slope, which leads from the main gate, is famous for its cherry blossoms in the spring and its leaves in autumn. It is a popular tourist spot. The main image at the temple is Shaka Sanzon. Enshrined in Tenjiku Hall is a Seikannon image called "Tenarai Kannon," named after the Tenarai from "Uji Chapters" of The Tale of Genji.
