Sarumaru - jinja Shrine

Enshrined at Sarumaru - jinja Shrine is Sarumaru Dayu, who composed the poem, "Treading on autumn leaves deep in the mountains, when I hear the call of the deer, autumn is sad." Sarumaru Dayu, considered one of the 36 Great Poets, is an enigma. It is said that he spent his last years here. The deity is worshipped as a god who removes lumps from the body, and even today worshippers come to this shrine to pray for the healing of cancer and other diseases. The festivals held on the 13th of each month also attract many worshippers.
