Kyoto Prefecture has established "recuperating facilities" in Kyoto City for those who test positive for COVID-19 but do not require hospitalization for treatment, so that they can recuperate safely without spreading the infection to others. If a contact for Kyoto Prefecture determines that recuperation at an accommodation facility is appropriate, we will request admission through a travel agency. The standard length of stay is approximately 10 days.
Those recuperating facilities are operated by Kyoto Prefecture using private hotels and they do not provide regular hotel services. The main differences from regular hotels are as follows:
The following are prepared for you in the room you’ll be staying:

○Various towels, tooth brush, tooth paste, comb, slippers (You will be provided just one pair)
※There are no microwaves.
Japanese-style boxed lunches will be distributed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Japanese tea and drinking water are available in the common space, so please take them freely. If you have food allergies or any dietary restrictions, please inform the staff.
A nurse will periodically check your physical condition and a doctor will examine you if deemed necessary.
Depending on your medical condition, the doctor may prescribe medication, arrange for outpatient visits to medical facilities, or arrange for hospitalization. If you have a valid insurance plan in Japan, please bring written proof of coverage.
After a certain period of time, when the doctor determines that the patient is ready to leave the facility, the patient will be informed in advance of the date and time of discharge. Please make arrangements with travel agencies and other related parties regarding your post-discharge travel itinerary. When you leave the facility, please make sure that you haven’t left anything behind and be sure to take all of your belongings with you.
