Muko City

Bamboo works

    

Kyoto is known as a production area of bamboo, but within that is the Muko City area of the Otokuni region, which is said to be the origin of bamboo works and is famous as such. The local factories and workshops have been producing works made from bamboo for many years.

Takenoko (Bamboo shoots)

Muko City's takenoko bamboo shoots are grown in an environment with ideal soil quality, temperatures and rainfall, and are cultivated with traditional and local methods that have been passed down for many generations from their predecessors.
These bamboo shoots have a thick and firm form and are known for their superb quality, while the white-skinned inner "shiroko" part is known for its excellence.
