Driving Test Information

Test days

Monday to Friday (except public days and the New Year holiday period), with particular days designated for particular license types.

License, category 2

Large and medium-size vehicles and ordinary vehicles

Reservation system

The person applying for the license must make a reservation in person at the Counter No. 5 on the first (ground) floor of the main building at the Driver License Examination Center. Only changes to reservations can be made by telephone, between 4 and 5 p.m. on weekdays (Monday to Friday).

NOTE: If you apply (make a reservation for) a road test, you must attach a road training report, stating that you have undertaken 5 days or more of on-road training in a vehicle corresponding to the license you are applying for, within three months of the date of application. (This does not apply for an ordinary category 2 license.)

Assessment and examination for restriction cancellation

Assessment days and registration times

• Every day (8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) for canceling AT (auto transmission) restriction for ordinary vehicles and 8 ton restriction for medium-size vehicles
• Odd number dates (1:00 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.) for canceling AT (auto transmission) and small-capacity restrictions for motorbikes
• Tuesdays (11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) for canceling crawler ("caterpillar") restriction for large special vehicles
• Fridays (11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) for canceling agricultural restriction for towing vehicles

Assessment days and registration time

• Every day (8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) for persons who are enrolled in an authorized vehicle driver training schools and currently receiving training.

About aptitude testing for canceling 8 ton restriction for medium-size vehicles

The procedure for the examination for canceling the 8 ton restriction for medium-size vehicle license does not include a test or assessment regarding the aptitude necessary to drive the vehicle. However, when the medium-size vehicle is next renewed after the restriction is cancelled, the aptitude test will be to the same standard as that for the large vehicle license (i.e., visual acuity for depth will be tested).

Announcement of test courses

The announcement of the test course will be made at 7:30 a.m. on the day of testing on the electronic noticeboard in the waiting area of the first (ground) floor of the main building. (We do not accept telephone inquiries regarding test courses.)
