In order to verify the influences of leisure fishing on turban stock, annual change of turban shell height and the density in Nohara area, the western part of Wakasa Bay, were investigated around the leisure fishing season from l996 to 1999. After the leisure fishing season, mean turban shell height and the density became smaller and lower than those before the season in every year. However, mean turban shell height and the density showed some recoveries until the next fishing season. While frequency distribution of turban shell height showed the existence of dominant year class under high leisure fishing intensities. These results suggest that there are complex factors, such as fluctuation of recruitment, on the annual change of turban shell stock in Nohara area.
